Nuriootpa, often called Nuri by locals, is the commercial and business centre of the Barossa Valley. Its name derives from an Aboriginal word said to mean meeting place. The town sits at the northern end of the valley and is home to major wineries, heritage sites and a riverside walking trail along the North Para River. It serves as a practical base for exploring the wider region and its many cellar doors.
