St Petri Lutheran Church stands tall over Nuriootpa, its spire a familiar landmark in the northern Barossa. Like the valley's many other Lutheran churches, it reflects the deep German religious heritage of the region, settled from the 1840s by immigrants seeking the freedom to worship. The church remains an active congregation and is one of several worth seeking out on a heritage drive through the valley's towns and villages.
