A small, forward-thinking producer making minimal-intervention Barossa wines that sidestep the region's big-and-bold cliche.
Yelland & Papps is part of the new wave reshaping how people think about Barossa wine. Working with old-vine fruit but a light touch in the winery, Susan and Michael Papps make fresher, more transparent wines — vibrant grenache, savoury shiraz and an excitable "Devote" range.
The cellar door is small and personal, the welcome genuine. If your idea of the Barossa is stuck in port-and-sledgehammer reds, an hour here will gently update it.
It pairs well with the other small grenache specialists scattered around Nuriootpa and Greenock.
