Spinifex Wines, led by Peter Schell, takes inspiration from the southern Rhone and Mediterranean, working with old Barossa vineyards to make textural, savoury wines. Alongside its signature Grenache and Mataro, the range includes blends, an esteemed white field blend and even traditional methode wines. The cellar door at Vine Vale, just outside Tanunda, is intimate and welcoming, a favourite among those who like alternative varieties and a hands-on, artisan approach.
