Williamstown

A leafy southern gateway beside the Warren Reservoir

Williamstown marks the green southern gateway to the Barossa, a leafy township set among hills and water on the edge of the Mount Lofty Ranges.

The nearby Warren and South Para reservoirs and the surrounding forest reserves give the area a cooler, bushier feel than the open valley floor, with walking trails and picnic spots close to town. The main street keeps its heritage shopfronts, bakery and pub.

It's a natural first stop coming up from Adelaide, and a quieter base for those who want bush and water as well as wine.
