Para Wirra Conservation Park

A rugged bushland park on the southern edge of the Barossa with walking trails, native wildlife and granite gorge scenery.

Spanning the hills between the Barossa and Adelaide's northern fringe, Para Wirra offers a proper bushwalking escape from the cellar-door circuit. A network of trails winds through grey-box woodland and granite outcrops, with a reservoir, picnic grounds and frequent sightings of kangaroos, echidnas and abundant birdlife.

It's a favourite with families and walkers, and a reminder that the Barossa is bordered by genuinely wild country. Pack water and good shoes; the longer loops climb and reward you with views back toward the valley.
