Eden Valley Township

A windswept high-country village above the Barossa floor

Up in the cool, elevated country east of the valley floor, the Eden Valley township is a tiny, weather-beaten settlement that gives its name to one of Australia's great Riesling regions.

Stone cottages, a historic pub and a scatter of old farm buildings make up most of the village, but the surrounding hills are studded with some of the country's most revered vineyards. The altitude brings cooler nights, brisker air and a landscape that feels a world away from the warm Barossa floor below.

It's a quiet base for exploring the high-country cellar doors and the Eden Valley's famous old-vine Shiraz.
