Rising above the vines at Lyndoch, Barossa Chateau is one of the valley's more theatrical surprises, with formal rose gardens, a collection of art and antiques, a cafe known for high tea, and a cellar door for Creed Wines.
It is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 3:30pm. The rose garden was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 and is at its best in spring.
It is an easy detour for anyone driving the back roads between Lyndoch and Tanunda, and pairs naturally with a morning at the nearby cellar doors.
