Murray Street Vineyards
A handsome cellar door under the gum trees at Greenock, pouring serious single-vineyard reds with platters on the lawn.
Murray Street Vineyards is one of Greenock's quiet stars — a sprawling, shady property where you settle in on the lawn with a platter and a glass and let the afternoon drift. The wines are seriously good, built around Greenock and Gomersal shiraz and grenache.
The setting is the draw as much as the cellar door itself: big trees, a long verandah and the kind of unhurried space that makes you cancel your next booking.
Greenock rewards the detour off the main valley road, and this is the reason to make it.
