The best family activities in Eden Valley

Playgrounds, animal farms and hands-on experiences the whole family can enjoy.

The Barossa is far more than a wine region, and families will find plenty to fill a weekend. Many of the valley's best experiences are free, outdoors and genuinely fun for kids.

Top of the list is the Whispering Wall at the Barossa Reservoir, where a child's whisper carries clear across the curved dam to amaze listeners on the far side. Burn off energy at the big playground in Tanunda, follow the easy paths of the Barossa Bushgardens near Nuriootpa, or spot kangaroos at dusk in one of the conservation parks. Lavender farms, animal encounters and pick-your-own producers add to the mix.

The region's eat & drink scene is surprisingly kid-friendly too, with bakeries, farm cafes and markets where little ones are made welcome. Pack a picnic, pick a lookout, and let the day unfold at its own pace.
