Stockwell Conservation Park
Remnant mallee bush and birdsong above the valley floor
On the rise above the village of Stockwell, this small conservation park protects a pocket of remnant native vegetation in a region long given over to vines and grazing.
Quiet walking tracks thread through mallee and box woodland that comes alive with wildflowers in spring and birdsong year-round. It's the sort of unhurried bush escape that few visitors find, which is much of its charm.
Pair it with a loop through the northern Barossa's quieter townships for a half-day away from the wine route.
